Sofia Savage Works

Sofia Savage

Sofia Savage is a New Mexico native who grew up in the tiny town of La Jara. Much of her artistic inspiration comes from her parents. Her father was a writer and her mother a painter, ceramicist and jeweler. While raising her family she enjoyed working in graphic design which served as a good creative outlet. Now retired, she enjoys painting professionally, and spending time with her husband, children, and many grandchildren. Working primarily in acrylic plus some mixed media, Sofia paints landscapes and abstract paintings. Her landscapes start from an abstract perspective. “I’m influenced by the colors and textures of New Mexico. I don’t sketch out my paintings. I prefer to load my brush and see where the paint takes me. I love using vibrant colors and horizon lines in my work. It creates a sense of symmetry and balance that is very calming.”
